Daily 5 and Technology

The Daily 5™ is a structure of instructional literacy blocks (read to self, read to someone, listen to reading, writing and word work) that students complete each day. The structure helps students develop the daily habits of reading, writing and working with peers, while working at their level of challenge and taking responsibility for their learning, in order to lead to lifelong independent literacy.

Technology can strongly support the instructional literacy blocks. There are many web-based tools and apps which effectively foster the student development of writing, reading, vocabulary, and fluency by providing opportunities to become self-proclaimed published authors, illustrators, performers, broadcasters, and presenters.
